MEKATILILI WA MENZA

Mekatilili Wa Menza est une femme qui a résisté à la colonisation britannique sur la côte de l’actuel Kenya. S’indignant des taxes abusives et du travail forcé opéré par les colons britanniques, elle parvint à convaincre son peuple d’arrêter de payer les taxes requises et de cesser leur participation aux travaux forcés. Les britanniques ripostèrent par une arrestation et un exil de Mekatilili.
